Q: Do I have to sign a lease for a retirement home or a long term care home?

For both homes, you sign a Tenancy Agreement that defines the costs, what services are included, and the terms and conditions. The retirement home requires 30 days’ notice. The nursing home, it is the day of departure.

Q: How do I apply for a retirement home or a long term care home?

For the retirement home, you would need to come in for a tour/interview, and then we would send our assessment forms to your family physician to make sure we can safely accommodate your care needs. All long term care home beds are managed by the Hamilton, Niagara Haldimand Brant (HNHB LHIN). They would do an in-home assessment to determine your care needs and approve a placement.
