Regulations For Long-Term Care
The Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and its general regulation 246/22 came into force on April 11, 2022. This will repeal and replace the existing Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007, and revoke Ontario Regulation 79/10.
The new legislation was designed to maintain the sections that previously worked well and to implement changes that advance three core priorities:
- Improving staffing and care;
- Protecting residents through better accountability, enforcement, and transparency; and
- Building modern, safe and comfortable long-term care homes for Ontario’s seniors.
